Question: Can a large sailing yacht ever be as comfortable and as ‘sociable’ as a large motor yacht? We believe the answer is ‘almost’ and to prove the point, our new 44m Sailing-Explorer concept has many of the same, comfortable, ‘go-anywhere’ attributes of a large motor yacht explorer, without the cost!

Unlike the rather ‘stuck’ sailing yacht market at the moment, our concept has a unique twist: a luxury explorer that happens to be a sailing yacht. Key to comfort is water ballast –an additional 32 metric tones of water stability contained within sheer lines that not only increase upwind sailing performance, but limits ‘worst-case’ healing angles to little more than 10 degrees, in virtually all conditions–. Its variable draft allows comfort access to secluded anchorages. The large deck saloon with 360º views has dining for ten people seated, with skylights over and direct access to the bridge area. Comprising a full-beam master cabin aft, with double bathrooms and access to its own transom deck, owner/guest accommodation is on a par with many an equivalent gas guzzler! There are four additional guest cabins converting from doubles to twins, dependent upon guest needs. The extra large motorboat-style galley and the large crew area are also an aspect rarely found on equivalent sailing yachts like this. Side-platforms offer easy access to the yacht with steps up to deck level with large aft deck seating/dining areas, side screens for privacy and wind protection and an essential fixed bimini.
